Apparently, Jim Mora had seen enough. The head coach abruptly ended UCLA’s training camp early Sunday when he cancelled the team’s final practice. His players celebrated wildly in the team room upon hearing the news that they would finally receive a night off after 17 practices in 18 days.

Tampering is an NBA problem, no doubt. Particularly when the tamperers and tamperees are one and the same.
Paul George made it known, through the many media outlets and “industry sources” at his and his agent’s disposal, that he wanted out of Indiana and into Staples Center. His contract doesn’t end until next year.
So now the NBA is investigating the Lakers for getting too public about George.
This has become the definition of tampering, apparently. You might as well punish an ostrich for burying his head.

The ties that bind Francois Beauchemin and the Ducks may have separated on occasion but in reality they’ve never really broken.
More proof of that came Monday when the Ducks brought back the longtime defenseman for a third term with the franchise, signing him to a one-year contract. RDS.ca reported a $1 million deal, with an additional $500,000 that can be eaed through incentives based on games played and rounds the Ducks advance in the playoffs.

ANAHEIM >> It took three men to extract a pigeon from the Angel Stadium baseball diamond Monday. Texas Rangers first baseman Mike Napoli coered the clumsy bird, which had spent a half-inning meandering around the right side of the infield, between himself and first base umpire Gary Cederstrom. Cederstrom then chased the pigeon slowly from fair territory toward the first-base dugout. Rangers manager Jeff Banister finally emerged, picked up the pigeon with his bare hands, and carried it back with him to the dugout, never to be seen again.
